The Miss Firecracker Contest
by Beth Henley
In the small town of Brookhaven, MS., a few days before the Fourth of July, Carnelle Scott is rehearsing furiously for the Miss Firecracker Contest. The unexpected arrival of her cousin Elain, herself a former Miss Firecracker winner, who has walked out on her rich but boring husband and two small children, complicates matters a lot, as does Elain's eccentric brother, recently released from a mental institution.
A touchingly awkward seamstress named Popeye and several other nutty characters along with Carnelle, all try to escape their unhappy pasts and turn hopefully toward what most surely will be a better future.
Performed February 14th through the 17th, 2002 to capacity crowds.

Anybody Out There?
by John Patrick
Oliver Pankey is a born loser, in life, in love, with finances and his career. And, when he visits a doctor to check on the results of a blood test, the files get switched and he is told that he will be dead within six months. Fed up and reconciled to his fate, Oliver turns into a raging lion, performing feats of dazzling bravery. He even agrees to help the FBI, only to learn at the eleventh hour of the doctors horrendous error. Needless to say, our hero's knees turn to jelly, but the action spins on, finding it's way to a happy and hilarious conclusion.
