Franklin County Alabama - Watermelon Festival Bike Rides

6th Annual Franklin County Watermelon Festival Bike Ride presented by The Russellville Kiwanas. 7:30 AM Saturday, August 11, 2007 NOTE: The bike ride is the weekend BEFORE the Watermelon Festival Beginning in 2004, we changed the format of the Franklin County Watermelon Festival Bikeride to include 2 different rides. The 50K ride (35 miles) is for all ages and skill levels and the Metric Century 100K (65 mile) ride is designed for more advanced riders and features over 4100 feet of climb! So be aware, the Metric Century ride will be a challenge and is not for beginners! Both rides begin and end at Russellville High School in Franklin County Pre-register to save time! If you like, you may print out an entry form here, in PDF format. $20.00 per rider. (Entries accepted on day of event as well.) Aditional 2007 Registration information coming soon!
Rest stops approximately every 15 to 20 miles featuring cold water, snacks and of course, plenty of watermelon! Restrooms available
New in 2006! There will be a post ride meal available as well as shower facilities. (Bring your own towel and soap, though.)

Looking for a challenge? New for 2007, a 102 mile route that includes 7,000 ft of climbing. It will still include Coburn Mountain or the Wall as it is better known. It averages 12-13% with grades of 18%.
