Jet Skiing on Bear Creek Lake

Welcome to Franklin County Alabama

Award winning recreation
Like spending time outdoors, enjoying nature? We have all kinds of things to do.
Do you like to fish? Bear Creek Lakes occupy over 8,000 acres of recreational waters, some of the cleanest in Alabama due to the fact there is no industry allowed on these waters. Largemouth bass weighing over 15 pounds have been caught in these waters, with the average being in the 10 - 12 pound range. Boating, water skiing and swimming are also popular because of the calm, clean waters and sand beaches. Of course, there are plenty of places to camp with all of our woods, Bear Creek alone offering over 160 full featured sites in 5 campgrounds on 15,000 acres.

Nature lovers, come explore one of the many beautiful canyons we have to offer, like Dismals Canyon, designated a Registered National Natural Landmark. A secluded wilderness filled with natural phenomena tucked deep within the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Dismals Canyon offers a serenity so extraordinary and a location so secret that it is featured in Reader's Digest "Off The Beaten Path" as one of America's most interesting and still uncrowded places to visit.
